Blog #1- Pre-Project
For my Hawken project, I am working at King’s Gym in Bedford. I chose to work at a gym because being fit and active has always interested me. I have always loved learning new workouts, understanding how they target different muscle groups, and exploring how fitness connects to overall health and well-being. Even though my long-term career goal is to become a psychiatrist, which is not related to physical activity, I believe staying active and knowing about fitness will always be an important part of my life. Physical activity is something that I am passionate about, as I see it as a part of my lifestyle. Being active can relieve my stress, make me feel healthier, and allow me to push my limits. I always knew that for my senior project, I didn't want to spend these three weeks sitting around. This project allows me to expand on my interest in fitness, but now in a more structured and professional setting. I get to interact with different types of people, understand their fitness goals, and see how a gym supports its members. I am very excited for this project as I will learn more about what it takes to run a gym, take care of different clients, and what muscle groups different exercises target.
